We did the coiba tour with Alan, I am totally happy, we saw turtles, sharks and dolphins. Good captain Rolo. The owner Andres gave us good information about COIBA island in the office. The owner speaks perfect English .

Thank you, Alan, for pulling me throughout all 3 snorkeling experiences because I don’t know how to swim! I felt very safe and enjoyed seeing all the different animals that you pointed out. You are also very patient and sweet. Also thanks to your father, Andres, for being very responsive on WhatsApp and scheduling a pick up for us from our lodging. We appreciate you both!

A great tour with a very friendly and knowledgeable guide, who was able to show us hidden things in the water (like an octopus) that we would never have discovered otherwise.

Andres (son of the owner) was our guide for the trip. He spoke perfect English and had a broad knowledge of panama, it's wildlife and Coiba Island. We snorkelled at 3 different spots and saw a lot of corals, fish, sharks and turtles. Lunch was pasta salad with or without tuna. We had a great time!

"Best Time to Visit Coiba Island"

Expect sunny weather, perfect for snorkeling and beach activities. It’s also the dry season, so you’ll get the clearest waters.

The most popular time to visit.

  • Weather: Sunny skies, calm seas, and minimal rainfall. Ideal for beach lovers and photographers.

  • Visibility: Excellent underwater visibility (up to 30 meters) makes it perfect for snorkeling and diving.

  • Marine Life: You’ll have great chances of seeing turtles, rays, reef sharks, and massive schools of fish.

  • Whale Sharks: Occasionally spotted during this time, especially in early dry season.

  • Tip: This is high season, so tours and accommodations fill up quickly — book early!

While this is the rainy season, it’s still a great time to visit if you prefer a quieter, more peaceful experience. The rain typically comes in short bursts.

A lush, quieter experience with unique wildlife opportunities.

  • Weather: Expect short tropical showers, usually in the late afternoon. The mornings are often clear.

  • Fewer Crowds: You’ll enjoy more privacy at top snorkeling spots and beaches.

  • Lush Nature: The island becomes vibrant and green — perfect for nature lovers and bird watchers.

  • Marine Life: Humpback whales migrate through the region between July and October, making this the best time for whale watching.

  • Tip: Bring a light rain jacket and waterproof bag. Some days may be overcast, but the water stays warm and inviting.

Unique species that make Coiba a UNESCO World Heritage site, such as:

  • Humpback whales (July–October)

  • Whale sharks (December–April)

  • Sea turtles, dolphins, manta rays, and colorful reef fish
Bonus: Mention the rare Coiba howler monkey or scarlet macaws!

A taste of what you can experience:

  • Snorkeling and scuba diving among vibrant coral reefs

  • Boat tours around uninhabited islands

  • Hiking to viewpoints on Coiba itself

  • Birdwatching and wildlife photography

  • Relaxing on secluded beaches

Experience the rich biodiversity of Coiba Island, a UNESCO World Heritage Site teeming with marine life and pristine tropical landscapes
